I was involved in a car accident and the other party was completely at fault. Their insurance totaled my vehicle and is looking to settle the property claim. They took over 2 months to settle the claim and I have had a rental car the entire time. Is the insurance company required to cover my rental car until I receive my settlement or until they make an offer? Please advise.

I am trying to rent a car from enterprise and I am 21 yrs old with no insurance because I am in deployment right now in California. They told me i had to pay $20 fee for being under 24 and i would have to pay for their insurance since my insurance in NJ is done. Would I have to pay for their insurance to rent a car?

The other vehicle was at fault. The driver, does not own the vehicle, but lives with the owner. Their insurance co. will not pay any money or even set me up with a rental until they contact the owner. It has been over a month now, and he has not answered their phone call. I have no idea why he’s hiding. Possibly warrants out for his arrest, who knows. He has coverage, so he has no reason to hide. The driver stopped answering phone calls as well. The police report states clearly that the other driver was at fault. The other insurance company doesn’t seem to care, but I don’t have a vehicle, am out $400 for a rental that I had to pay myself, and I’m missing work. How long should I wait before I take this to court?….or is there a better route to take? I’ve filed a complaint with the department of insurance, but even that hasn’t mad the other ins. company speed up the process. Should I maybe take the owner to small claims court?

Is it legal to rent your car to someone(not using any service like avis. Rather random selection and asking them to borrow their car for a fee)? If you are stoped what do you need to prove their concent of letting you “borrow” the car?

My car was stolen 2 weeks ago, been in a rental since then. Will need to rent for about 2 more weeks (until either they find my car or the insurance co. pays it off). I declined the rental insurance because I have comprehensive on my car that covers rentals. A woman rear ended the rental car on Thursday night - made a small dent in the bumper but now there’s also a growing ***** in the windshield. What should I do first…call my insurance? Call the rental people? Is it possible for me to get it fixed myself before turning it in, and would this even make sense? If it were just the dent I would just wait until I turned it in to say anything and let the rental co. deal with my ins., but the creeping windshield ***** has me worried and will only get worse. My policy will cover me for rental company’s loss of use also. And I’m thinking windshield repairs are usually cheap thru your insurance and won’t raise your rate. Need some experienced advice on how to proceed with all this - thanks!
